Senior SDET, Data Quality Engineering (Design and Build)

We are looking for a senior builder of test automation with strong design judgement to design and build the automated testing capability for data systems. This is a data domain role. It is not web, mobile or application testing. It is a greenfield build, and you will be the person who decides what good looks like and builds it, alongside our QE Practice Lead and additional developers.

• Strong SQL, hands on across major databases
• Experience testing data integration pipelines (ETL) and data warehouses on at least one major cloud (Azure, GCP or AWS; any one is fine).
• 5+ years as an SDET writing production quality code (Python and pytest preferred).
• Solution design judgement: can design a solution end to end, reason about tradeoffs and explain why.
• Has built or substantially extended a test automation framework, not only written scripts inside one that someone else made.
• Hands on test data generation and test data management, including synthetic and schema driven data.
• Understands that data testing is not application testing, that BDD and Gherkin patterns do not map cleanly onto data, and that TDD remains vital in the AI era.

Strongly desirable
• pytest, a data quality framework (Great Expectations or equivalent), contract testing between pipelines and services, CI/CD for data platforms, and deterministic test data generators.

Teachable, not required on day one
• Specific tools and clouds matter less than your ability in data, test automation, test data generation and test data management. 

• Design and architect data test automation frameworks and accelerators, deciding the technical how.
• Build them hands on in code, to a standard that survives real client pipelines.
• Own test data generation and test data management as first class engineering: synthetic, schema driven, deterministic and constraint enforcing.
• Pair with senior testers to operate and harden the work, lifting the practice's capability as you go.
